The inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday, March 28, was attended by authorities, financial entities, partners, major technology companies and soy seed producers in Brazil, as well as employees and the local community, who honored the launch that marked the company’s evolution.

With a total area of 32,000 m² and storage capacity of 27,000 m², the automated unit is one of the most modern in Brazil. The structure has 13 hoppers, 28 wooden silos for drying and selecting grains, 19 metallic silos, two UBS and two new TSI machines, with a treatment capacity of 20 tons per hour each. The unit is also committed to sustainability and social responsibility, has a solar plant with an 856.76 kWp system that supplies 100% of its power needs, and has allocated 50 hectares to its own production of 100% reforested wood.

Efraim Fischmann (President of Sementes Estrela), together with the Simone Spiazzi (General Director of Sistema Sargas), highlighted the importance of the work carried out by the company’s employees in building an increasingly solid company, and thanked everyone for their efforts. Beto Bordin (Mayor of Jacutinga) stressed that Sementes Estrela is launching new advances and new projects every year, demonstrating the company’s current and future value. On the occasion, patriarch Guidálio Fischmann was honored with a plaque with his name for his entrepreneurial vision, courage and legacy.

Today, Sementes Estrela is the largest seed company in southern Brazil in terms of licensing, with a production capacity of 2 million bags of soy and 300,000 bags of wheat. To meet this demand, it also has a unit in Tupanciretã/RS and has opened a new distribution and storage center, totaling 46,000 m² in area.

The Future Begins in Agro

On the same day, the 2023 Field Day of the Vega Group, made up by the companies Sementes Estrela, Futura Agrícola and Sistema Sargas, also took place, with the attendance of almost a thousand people.

Under the theme, ″The Future Begins in Agro,″ companies in the sector presented their offerings in the areas of innovation, technology, results and sustainability for the field from the University of Passo Fundo (UPF), Carolina Deuner.

One of the features of the event was its sustainability through the implementation of the ″Carbon Neutral Action,″ in partnership with AKVO ESG. Through a survey of greenhouse gas emissions, parameters and metrics will be applied to identify quantified and mitigated emissions. After the results are announced, the company will compensate with the purchase of carbon credits generated in certified projects.
