Eden Research inks French deal on fungicide Mevalone with Corteva

Eden Research PLC (AIM:EDEN, OTCQB:EDNSF) has signed a distribution agreement with the local arm of the American agri-giant Corteva that allows the latter to market, distribute, and sell the UK group's fungicide product, Mevalone, in France on an exclusive basis.

Mevalone is a sustainable, foliar bio fungicide used to treat botrytis cinerea on grapes and various other crops.

Eden recently received authorisation for the use of Mevalone on pome fruits, including apples and pears, in France to help treat post-harvest diseases that arise during storage.

The agreement will be implemented immediately, with commercial progress expected over the course of the next year as Eden transitions from its current distribution arrangements, investors were told.

The CEO of Eden Research, Sean Smith, said that the agreement with Corteva reflected the "further execution and acceleration" of Eden’s commercial strategy.

He added that the expansion of Eden’s partnership with the agriscience powerhouse was an important step in increasing the company’s commercial presence in the French grape and pome fruits markets.

France is well-known for its agricultural output, which is widely recognised for its high quality.

The country’s vineyards are the biggest consumers of plant protection products, including fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides.

Although viticulture represents just 3% of France’s agricultural land, the sector consumes 20% of the country’s fungicides and represents 15% of French agricultural produce in value terms.
