Hailir’s 3,000-ton prothioconazole technical project enters trial production

Shandong Hailir Chemical, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hailir Group, has completed the equipment installation and commissioning of its 3,000-ton prothioconazole technical project. Several days ago, the trial production project was reviewed and approved by an expert group, having fulfilled the conditions required for trial production. 

Prothioconazole is a novel broad-spectrum triazolthion fungicide, which is used for controlling many grain and legume crop diseases. According to the results of a large number of field efficacy test, prothioconazole is proven to be safe for crops and effective in the prevention and control of crop diseases, with the obvious effect of increasing yields. Compared to triazole fungicides, prothioconazole has a broader spectrum in terms of fungicidal activity. Because of its satisfactory fungicidal effect, prothioconazole is seen to have broad market potential.

Upon the completion and full operation of the 3,000-ton prothioconazole technical project, the capacity of Shandong Hailir Chemical will reach 5,000 tons. Considering the 8,000-ton prothioconazole capacity of Phase II of Qingdao Hengning Biotechnology Co., Ltd., which was announced earlier, the company’s future prothioconazole capacity is estimated to reach 13,000 tons, and prothioconazole will become one of the company’s dominant products, therefore, paving the way for the company’s long-term development, and supporting the improvement of the company’s market competitiveness and profitability, as well as positively impacting the company’s future business performance.

Shandong Hailir Chemical’s prothioconazole was granted the ERU technical equivalence in May 2019. In November 2022, it was granted an independent registration in Brazil. Currently, independent registrations and support for registration applications have been done in many countries, which will assist Hailir’s future overseas market development and facilitate the international market recognition of the product, as well as help shape an international brand.

The company is actively deploying its pesticide technicals and formulations in markets both at home and abroad. Backed by the technical advantages of its pesticide, the prothioconazole product series has become Hailir’s main product variety, for which it owns various prothioconazole technical registrations, as well as a number of single agent and mixture formulation registrations in China.
