Altacor and Coragen, two rynaxypyr-based insecticides, have been granted US approval in fruit and vegetable crops, according to a company release.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Canada Pest Management Regulatory Agency both approved the insecticides, in part due to its "outstanding environmental profile," DuPont said.

"These registrations for Altacor and Coragen mark the beginning of a new horizon in pest control for DuPont customers," said James C. Collins, vice president and general manager DuPont Crop Protection. "Over the next several years, DuPont will continue to reinvent itself in the agricultural marketplace."

Rynaxypyr has an outstanding environmental profile, making both Altacor and Coragen excellent fits in integrated pest management (IPM) programs, the company said.

The first sales of the new insecticide products were recorded in 2007 in the Philippines and Indonesia, and progress is being made on product registrations in many other countries. Altacor is registered for use in pome fruits, stone fruits, and grapes; Coragen is registered for use on a wide range of vegetable crops, including lettuce, peppers, and tomatoes.
