BASF - Agricultural Solutions Portugal launched a new fungicide, Dagonis (Fluxapyroxad + Difenoconazole), on January 23, 2020, which is recommended for vegetables.
According to the manufacturer, the fungicide is meant for the control of powdery mildew and tomato, eggplant and pepper alternaria; powdery mildew of watermelon, melon, cantaloupe, pumpkin, zucchini and cucumber; powdery mildew and alternariosis of carrots, parsnips, parsley and celery; powdery mildew and white rot of chicory; white rot of lettuce, lamb's lettuce and endive; alternariosis, stenfiliosis and leaf spot (Mycosphaerella brassicicola) of Brussels sprouts, cabbage, savoy cabbage, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli; alternariose of arugula, radish and turnip and artichoke.
José Saramago, Technical Market Development Manager at BASF, presented Dagonis and underlined its main benefits, such as its high efficiency in a wide spectrum of diseases and cultures.
“The result of a rigorous research process, Dagonis is the new fungicide designed by BASF for Mediterranean horticulture. Multipurpose, with a wide spectrum of action and with excellent effectiveness, it has been approved in more than 50 different culture-disease combinations, offering the farmer more than 50 ways to win,” said the manufacturer.
One of the guests at the launch was the prestigious Spanish scientist, José Miguel Mulet, Professor and Researcher of Biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, who spoke about chemophobia, fears and food myths. He focused on the new challenges of modern agriculture and the alarming increase in the number of opinions on the use of chemicals in agriculture without a scientific basis.
