On January 10th, the Maxunitech 20th Anniversary and Forum on Sustainable Agriculture was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. The event was hosted by the China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA). Participants included university and industry crop protection experts and representatives of Maxunitech’s primary overseas business partners as well as the Maxunitech management team, a total of almost 600 participants.

Maxunitech 20th Anniversary Celebration and Sustainable Agricultural Development

At the forum, experts and industry representatives gave presentations and led discussions on HSEQ Management through process breakthroughs, water ecological restoration and resistant weed control technology in cotton. Maxunitech presented its most current advancements in each field.

In China, HSEQ has become a critical success factor for manufacturers. Historically, product and process development and HSEQ management have been separate technical disciplines for Chinese manufacturers which stands in contrast to Maxunitech’s historical approach to the business. In the eyes of Dr. Bangchi Chen, Chief Scientist of Maxunitech, technical grade active ingredient (“TGAI”) synthesis must evolve to tackle regulatory compliance challenges as well as cost pressures particularly during the later life cycle stages of crop and non-crop TGAI’s. Dr. Chen provided three examples of process breakthroughs by Maxunitech for Flufenacet, Prothioconazole and Pinoxaden and discussed the process the company uses to gauge and pursue the potential for material breakthroughs. Dr. Chen also mentioned new process discoveries on other patented products including Chlorantraniliprole, Pyroxasulfone and Fluxapyroxad.

As part of the celebration, Zheng Yuguo, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Liu Changling, chief scientist of Sinochem International Science and Technology Innovation Center and the rest of the experts shared their experiences in developing new TGAI’s and manufacturing processes for pesticides and pesticide intermediates, focusing on the key words of "innovation", "green" and "sustainable".

Looking back to the founding of the company 20 years ago, Mr. Ma used the words "start new journey", which links past achievements and future goals. Beginning with a small core group of employees in 2000, the company has grown to nearly one thousand employees of whom 200 have advanced degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering and has established subsidiary operations in Hangzhou, Nantong of Jiangsu, Luzhou of Sichuan, Urumqi, Xinjiang and overseas including the USA and Australia. Maxunitech has developed through its success in pesticide process research, construction and careful management of its manufacturing operations, excellence in supply chain management, strong and enduring customer relationships based on meeting commitments to customers, water ecological restoration, innovative pesticide technical development and end-user market development. On the new journey, Maxunitech will speed up its research efforts and will work toward the establishment of a green economic development model to promote the green, sustainable and healthy development of the agrochemical industry.
