Hailir to launch Huaxitian to control underground diseases of peanuts by 2020

ChinaTo tackle these problems, Hailir announced that it will launch, by 2020, its product, Huaxitian (clothianidin 22% fludioxonil · thifluzamide FS). The product is registered for application to control peanut sclerotium blight and peanut aphid, and is the only product in China that contains both clothianidin and thifluzamide, which are superior active ingredients for use in peanut-growing regions. It is also registered for controlling peanut sclerotium blight.
Currently, the most effective ingredients for controlling peanut sclerotium blight are thifluzamide and fludioxonil. Thifluzamide is highly effective in controlling peanut sclerotium blight, therefore, it has become a usual practice in regions seriously affected by the disease to add thifluzamide in seed dressings. However, as most related solutions are suspension concentrates that cannot form a film, their effect on controlling peanut sclerotium blight is average, while safety is also a concern.
As far as peanut grub is concerned, chlorpyrifos and imidacloprid are currently the main application agents. Chlorpyrifos has been used in underground pest treatment for many years, but is facing the issue of increased resistance and may be prohibited for this reason. Imidacloprid has also been used in peanut underground pest treatment for many years, but its resistance issue is also becoming more and more serious. In some areas, it is already impossible to control grubs. For grub control applications, a new ingredient, clothianidin, has been found to have a broad insecticidal spectrum, high efficiency, low toxicity, high systemicity and low water dissolution, making it a very promising product for seed coating applications.
To solve the issue of seed coating agents being vulnerable to a wet environment, which reduces control effect, Hailir’s seed coating work team developed a unique microporous film-forming technique, which forms a microporous film of nanometer fineness on a seed’s outer layer. This ensures the normal respiration of seeds to aid the controlled release of active ingredients, prolonging the duration of effect and improving safety. During the production process, Hailir strictly controls the particle size of Huaxitian to ensure quality.
