Whiteflies and thrips are two pests that are difficult to control in the production of tomatoes and peppers. They are important vectors of phytopathogenic viruses that cause significant damage in production, resulting in decreased yields.

To control these pests, Syngenta launched Minecto Pro (cyantraniliprole 136 g/L + abamectin 29 g/L), a new broad spectrum insecticide registered for the control of whitefly and thrips, which combines two active ingredients with different mechanisms of action. In this way, it controls adults and nymphs with a single application.

Minecto Pro is recommended to control Bemisia Tabaci and Trialeurodes Vaporariorum, the main species of whitefly in Argentina, and Frankliniella sp., the species of thrips that is a vector in the transmission of black plague in peppers. Its high level of control prevents the spread of different viruses, thus preserving the quality and health of the crops.

Its mode of action combining assets makes it a valuable tool when it comes to the prevention and management of possible resistances.

According to Pilar Parodi, Syngenta Fruit and Vegetable Manager, "Minecto Pro is a new technology that is becoming a valuable tool for the producer, especially considering that, until now, there was a very limited palette of products registered to control thrips in these crops in Argentina. It also has a high residual power, which is key to controlling these pests. "
