FMC conducts Gennesis Tour that provides maximum productivity in a sustainable way in sugarcane

By Leonardo Gottems, reporter for AgroPages

FMC Agricultural Solutions announced  the start of the "Gennesis Tour" in Brazil this month, with the expectation of gathering approximately 500 people, including representatives of plants and producers.  The tour will introduce the "Gennesis Program", which uses high performance chemical and biological products to protect sugar cane against weeds, pests and diseases.

The solutions offered by the Gennesis Program include the insecticide Altacor (Chlorantraniliprole), which has a unique mode of action and stands out in the control of the sugar cane borer (Diatraea saccharalis). Another tool is the bionematicide Quartz (Bacillus subtilis + Bacillus licheniformis), recommended to combat nematode (Pratylenchus zeae, Pratylenchus brachyurus, Meloidogyne incognita and Meloidogyne javanica).

Another solution that integrates the Gennesis Program is the fungicide Authority (azoxystrobin + flutriafol), which is effective against ‘pineapple’ rot (Thielaviopsis paradoxa) and orange rust of sugarcane (Puccinia kuehnii). It is included in the package of solutions Stone (diuron + sulfentrazone), which promotes excellent control of wide and narrow leaves, in pre- and post- emergence with residual and selectivity. There is also Seed+, a mixed mineral fertilizer to aid the plant in its initial start up, providing more vigor and resistance against biotic and abiotic stresses.

"The Gennesis Program has an innovative concept that, through management with the use of high performance chemical and biological products, enables the cane to sprout and grow balanced, healthy and vigorous in an environment free of pests and diseases," said FMC's Regional Marketing Manager, Vinicius Batista.

"The combined solutions promote stand, sanity, vigor and efficiency. The plants develop quickly, with less carbon expenditure and agility in the operations of the farm. Our expectation is that the Gennesis Program will be implemented by our clients and contribute to a more efficient and sustainable management", said Batista.

The tour began in the cities of Piracicaba, Lençóis Paulista and Assis, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil's largest producer, responsible for about 60% of all sugar cane and ethanol in the country, continuing through the city of Dourados, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, and Uberaba, in the state of Minas Gerais. Then the event returns to visit more cities, including in São Paulo: Araçatuba, São José do Rio Preto and Ribeirão Preto-SP (05/04).

The FMC Gennesis Tour schedule consists of visits to areas where Gennesis Program solutions have been applied. The concepts and technologies are presented through lectures with FMC professionals and producers' testimonials.
