Nihon Nohyaku announced that the company has completed registration applications in Japan and India for its  new insecticides Orchestra® Flowable and Orchestra® Powder, both having the active ingredient benzpyrimoxan.

Orchestra® is a novel agent that has a specific insect growth control action different from existing agents. The product is highly effective against planthoppers and leafhoppers, which cause serious damage in rice cultivation, and especially to planthoppers, for which insecticide resistance has been a problem. In addition, it is a new product that is compatible with Integrated Pest Management because of its high selectivity, low animal toxicity, and low impact on natural enemies and useful insects.

Nihon Nohyaku expects to start sales of Orchestra® in 2021 in Japan and 2023 in India, and within 5 years of the start of sales, the company aims for sales of 6 billion yen in India and 1 billion yen or more in Japan.

In addition to Orchestra® single agent, the company is also developing combinations of various insecticides and fungicides. Besides Japan and India, the company is also considering acquiring registrations in Southeast Asian countries, and will develop the Orchestra® product line as one of its major global items in the field of rice pesticides. In India, Nihon Nohyaku is planning to manufacture products at its subsidiary company, Nichino India Pvt. Ltd., as well as promote and expand sales across the entire group.
