AgroPages-China export analysis: both the export volume and value of Chlorothalonil technical fell in Aug, 2018-Agricultural news

In August 2018, China's Chlorothalonil TC exports amounted to 1,788,338 kgs, with its total value of $10,463,189.00. The amount of Chlorothalonil formulation exports was 1,073,105.47 kgs, valued $5,987,660.00. All the Chlorothalonil products are exported to 25 countries. Among them, Chlorothalonil 98.5% TC ranked first in exports which accounted for 45% in total value. However both the export amount and prices in August fell compare to last month.

Analysis by all products

Among all the exported chlorothalonil products containing TC and formulations, Chlorothalonil 98.5% TC ranked first, accounting for 54.29% of the total. Followed by Chlorothalonil 75% WP and Chlorothalonil 40% SC, accounting for 13.31% and 9.62% respectively.

The export tendency of Chlorothalonil TC

1. The export price of 98.5% Chlorothalonil TC decreased compared to July. However it increased significantly compared with the same month last year. The number of exports fell from 2,073,185 kgs in July to 1,565,688 kgs.

2. The export price of 98% Chlorothalonil TC has increased from July, and the amount of exports has dropped from 346,000 kgs in July to 189950 kgs.

3. The export value of 96% Chlorothalonil TC has increased from the previous month. The amount of exports in August dropped from 285,000 kgs in July to 32,700 kgs.

Company comments

Regarding to the export market performance of chlorothalonil, Tan Wei, marketing manager from CAC Nantong Chemical Company said that according to the yearly trend of export, it is the off-season from August to October, during which time the amount will decline. However, the total amount in the first eight months of 2018 has increased by more than 10% from the previous year. In August 2018, the monthly export volume increased by about 30% year-on-year. Therefore, the total export volume is still rising. He said that the current market shortage in Chlorothalonil is still high, mainly for two reasons: one is due to the insufficient of global production, and the other is due to the increasingly severe problem of resistance of fungicides, which causing the increase of the use of protective fungicide in resistance management solutions.

Chen Siliang, head of marketing of Jiangsu Weunite Fine Chemical Company, also said that the current Chlorothalonil product in China is still in short supply, meanwhile the production costs are continuing to rise. At present, the 3,000-ton capacity of Weunite is under upgrading and expanding to meet market demand in the future.
