The Swiss company Andermatt Biocontrol will increase its shareholding stake to a majority position in the German company Biofa. Both Andermatt Biocontrol (58 %) and Trifolio-M (22 %) have taken share options which will strengthen the long-term partnership between Biofa, Andermatt Biocontrol and Trifolio-M.

Andermatt Biocontrol is a global leader in the production and distribution of biocontrol products. Andermatt Biocontrol was founded over 30 years ago and specialises in the development and production of baculoviruses. Situated in Grossdietwil, Switzerland, Andermatt Biocontrol has invested over the last decade in a worldwide distribution network, by establishing daughter companies in important agricultural markets.

Trifolio-M, based in Lahnau, Germany has been developing and producing biological plant protection products, biocides and pheromones for over 30 years.

Biofa, located in Münsingen, Germany was founded in 1982 and is the leading supplier of biological plant protection products, biocides, plant stimulants, and fertilizers in Germany. Over the past decade, Biofa has invested in the registration of plant protection products and biocides at a European level. Biofa is the holder of over 30 registered products for the German and European market and is the owner of distribution rights from different national and international manufacturers. The strengthened partnership between Biofa, Andermatt Biocontrol and Trifolio-M will allow Biofa to expand its market penetration in Germany and Europe. Simultaneously Biofa will be able to invest in new product developments and registrations.

By Andermatt Biocontrol taking a majority shareholding in Biofa, it combines two strong portfolios in the biocontrol market. This collaboration will strengthen the position of all three parties in the European plant protection market.
