Farm Market iD – a data company with four decades’ experience working with ag companies – announces the upcoming release of new In-Season and Predictive Crop data. The company uses machine learning, satellite imagery and predictive analytics to provide this data.

“In the past, agribusinesses only had access to historical farm and crop data. Now, ag companies can gain critical insights based on the current and next year’s crops to gain a competitive edge,” says Chief Executive Officer Steve Rao.

The predictive and in-season data will cover four crops in 20 states: corn, soybeans, wheat, and cotton – and estimated 200+ million planted acres in total and over 90% of all corn and soybeans grown in the U.S.

Farm Market iD produces this crop data from a combination of sources including satellite imagery from Landsat and Sentinel sensors, weather data observations, historic planting information derived from NASS Cropland Data Layers and ground truthing.

The data is fed into a machine learning model that takes into account regional variations for different crops, commodity prices at the time preliminary planting decisions are made, data from the USDA on planted areas, and weather data that can affect decisions closer to planting time.

“There are various reports and institutions that may predict key crops at a macro level. Our data, however, is built from the land up at quarter-acre increments and linked to grower data. This allows agribusinesses to use it both tactically and strategically to better understand micro-markets,” says Rao.

Predictive and in-season data from Farm Market iD will be available in July. Agriculture companies can visit https://farmmarketid.com/talk-to-us/ to start pre-ordering today.
