China established the acetochlor consortium at an acetochlor industry development forum on June, 18th in Beijing, organized by China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA). 10 leading acetochlor manufacturers and 3 raw material producers have attended this form, reports Agropages.

The herbicide capacity and yield have exceeded that of insecticide, and it took up 36.1% of the total pesticides production in 2009. acetochlor has become the second largest herbicide in China, with a capacity of 130,000 tonnes per year. The overcapacity, dropped operation, volatile price have badly damaged the industry. Thus this newly established consortium will focus on following aspect: coordinating the relationship in the industry, reducing surplus capacity, extending the life-cycle of acetochlor, and improving its competitiveness.

Members of the consortium included: Nantong Jiangshan Agrochemical & Chemical (JSAC), Jiangsu Changlong Chemicals, Jiangsu Lulilai company, Shandong Shizhong Pharmaceutical, SHANDONG QIAOCHANG CHEMICAL, Shangdong Binnong Technology, Kesai agrochem, Shandong Vicome Greenland Chemical, Shangyu Yingtai Fine chemical, Hangzhou Qingfeng Agro-chemical , Regar Pesticides, Inner Mongolia Hongyu technology, Jiangsu Huaihe Chemicals , Kunshan Chemical, Henan YingTai chemical & industry.
