Syngenta’s Segovis fungicide approved in California, New York

Greenhouse and nursery growers in California and New York now have access to Segovis fungicide (oxathiapiprolin), a recent innovation from Syngenta for controlling downy mildew and Phytophthora diseases. It features a unique active ingredient and is registered for use on ornamentals crops, trees and shrubs in greenhouses, nurseries and commercial landscapes.

“Segovis has shown excellent performance controlling both aerial and soil-borne Phytophthora as well as many diseases caused by downy mildew fungi,” said Nancy Rechcigl, field technical manager for Syngenta. “With a novel mode of action, Segovis is a great tool for California and New York growers looking to diversify their fungicide rotation programs.”

Segovis contains oxathiapiprolin, a systemic fungicide and novel active ingredient that is effective at low use rates. It offers a four-hour restricted-entry interval (REI) for growers and has no signal word on the label.

“Since it was introduced into the ornamental market in 2016, Segovis has proven to offer reliable control of tough diseases,” said Laurie Riggs, market manager for ornamentals at Syngenta. “As California and New York growers prepare for the upcoming spring season, they now have access to a fungicide that can help keep their operations free of downy mildew and Phytophthora.”
