AgroPages-Globachem NV enters into AMISTAR® Technology (Azoxystrobin) Supply Agreement with Syngenta-Agricultural news

Syngenta today announced that it has signed a Supply Agreement with Globachem to distribute AMISTAR Technology-based products. AMISTAR Technology-based products are the world’s best-selling fungicides and Syngenta’s largest selling product range worldwide.

AMISTAR Technology is based on the active ingredient Azoxystrobin, a fungicide that continues to securely combat a vast number of diseases and to deliver great value to farmers around the globe. Syngenta’s process patents related to the manufacture of the active ingredient Azoxystrobin have been issued in over 80 countries around the globe, and the patented Syngenta manufacturing process provides for higher yields, as well as for cleaner and safer manufacturing.

Xavier Leprince, Syngenta Head of Fungicides, said: “This Supply Agreement will help to ensure that farmers are genuinely accessing AMISTAR Technology. We are committed to making sure that farmers everywhere have access to Syngenta products that are manufactured in compliance with regulatory standards and which respect Syngenta’s process patent rights.”

Consequently, Koen Quaghebeur, President of Globachem said: “Globachem is committed to bringing value for money to distributors and growers and to respecting stewardship and patent guidelines. We have decided that sourcing Azoxystrobin from Syngenta is the best way to ensure that those goals can be achieved consistently and to respect Syngenta’s intellectual property rights for AMISTAR Technology. We found out that manufacturers have not been respecting the intellectual property rights of Syngenta. Such behaviour is not acceptable for Globachem. The global supply agreement with Syngenta will put Globachem in a position to actively participate in the global market for high-quality fungicides and to also share in the potential upsides of Azoxystrobin. It will ensure a secure and steady supply of Azoxystrobin of guaranteed quality both now and into the future."
