CAC Nantong plans to expand 2,4-D capacity to 50,000 tons in 2018

CAC (Click to know more)Nantong Chemical Co., Ltd (CAC Nantong) recently announced its plan to expand its 2,4-D capacity to 50,000 MT per year.

2,4-D, an herbicide used to control various weeds has been widely used for more than 60 years. Reports of resistance to the herbicide have been rare. Recently, Dow Agro Chemical announced the launch of EnlistTM Duo corn in the United States and Canada for the 2018 growing season. As a result, the companion herbicide, a combination of glyphosate and 2,4-D, for use with EnlistTM corn, cotton and soybeans is projected to grow rapidly by 2020. On the regulatory front, starting from the third quarter of 2016, a strict environmental protection program has been launched in China. As a result, most underground 2,4-D manufacturers were forced to shut down resulting in an imbalance of supply and demand up to the present day.

To ensure adequate supply to the industry and growers alike, CAC Nantong is working on a capacity expansion of its 2,4-D following three years operating their new Jiangxi Tianyu factory. With the planned capacity expansion to 50,000 MT in 2018, it’s expected that the 2,4-D market will reach a balanced state in the Chinese export market. CAC Nantong believes its process improvements and expanded capacity will make its 2,4-D technology cost leading worldwide.

CAC Nantong welcomes the opportunity to work with strategic partners to supply high quality 2,4-D products alongside their ongoing cooperation with the Chinese government to upgrade and rebuild an environmentally friendly and sustainable 2,4-D industry in China.

CAC Nantong is a professional manufacturer of agrochemicals and specialty chemicals. The company started working on a state of the art process for 2,4-D in 2009. After five years of continuous efforts, CAC Nantong successfully accomplished the commercialization of a 20,000MT 2,4-D plant in 2014 named Jiangxi Tianyu. Given the innovation of a clean technology, the process developed by CAC Nantong delivers a dramatically improved quality of 2,4-D with low odor, high assay and extremely low dioxin and has received great popularity in different markets worldwide.
