Seed Processing Holland their service team experiences many unforgettable moments during the worldwide projects and maintenance visits they perform. Often true friendships are established after business hours and during dinners and events. Their service technician Janjaap Post shares more details on his service visit to Sakata Seed Southern Africa (PTY) Ltd.. Janjaap is 29 years old and works since 2006 at Seed Processing Holland. He is for over 10 years a steady, flexible and enthusiastic service technician within their service team.

Sakata requested a service technician from Seed Processing Holland to manage the relocation and re-installation of their conditioned seed box dryer and drying cell to a new facility. They use this air drying system to dry 48 seed boxes with control of humidity and temperature. Together with Seed Processing Holland’s service department they estimated the time needed for this project was 2 weeks. Janjaap Post was the technician selected to go. He had visited other Sakata facilities before, but this was his first time to go to the South African facility and meet the South African team.

Marius de la Rey, Seed Processing Controller at Sakata Seed Southern Africa (PTY) Ltd. was the project manager on site for Janjaap. He made sure there was a subcontracting team of nine people (Graham Bloom’s Cobyte Concepts CC) available to support Janjaap in the process as agreed beforehand. The whole moving process went very smoothly which left ample time to install and test the machine.

During the tests Janjaap discovered that the condenser fan was not working properly which caused problems in the cooling section. He presented the different options to Marius and they decided to do a full retrofit to make sure the conditioned seed box dryer would be working as new again. After the retrofit Marius experienced the machine working even better than it did before the move. As this solution was the right fix there was no need for Janjaap to extend his visit and he could finish everything in the estimated timeframe.

Marius and his team provided Janjaap with the right tools, equipment and support needed during the process Marius was even so generous to take Janjaap to a Cheetah farm over the weekend. As Marius describes the visit of Janjaap: “We were very happy with Janjaap’s professionalism in dealing with this rather challenging project. His attention to detail and good communication gave us the perfect outcome we had hoped for. His interaction with the rest of the team was outstanding. Thank you Janjaap for a job well done and for an opportunity to share a bit of South African hospitality with you! To a stunning Seed Processing Holland team in Enkhuizen, thank you for your great support as well!

Seed Processing Holland aims to be closer to our global customers and this service visit was one of the many we do to meet our customers’ needs and expectations. They recommend our customers annual service contracts for our machines to make sure to get the most out of them and not be unpleasantly surprised by unexpected problems.
