Farmers are investing more in soil management techniques that utilize and balance synthetic and organic fertilizers to maximize yields and build quality of soil microbiology. Non-living, abiotic factors for proper nutrient uptake, such as soil type, moisture, and soil temperature, play an essential part in determining the right conditions for high yields and soil fertility. Creating the conditions for a healthy soil ecology through amendments is often a long process, as it takes time before nutrients locked in the soil or plant tissue is available for uptake. Fulvex works to solubize minerals in the soil, enabling these vital nutrients to be carried directly into plant cells and increase crop yields in sustainable and crop specific results.
Researched and developed by BioFlora, Fulvex is an organic, patented, one-of-a-kind liquid extract of fulvic substances derived from leonardite that have been separated and blended through a unique proprietary process. Fulvex has a low molecular weight with exceptionally high concentrations of ionic minerals that stimulate plant metabolic functions. In doing so, Fulvex increases photosynthetic activity of plant cells and builds Brix levels by storing solubized sugars in plant cells and in soils, improving a plant’s ability to resist wilting and protect against other weather stresses. Additionally, its high carbon content restores soil to an optimum state that is vital for electron transfer. The transferring of electrons is essential for cellular ionic exchanges, which improves plant vigor.
The key to understanding electron transfer and how it increases nutrient uptake is the cation exchange capacity (CEC). CEC is the total capacity of a soil to hold exchangeable cations, it is a very important soil property which influences soil structure and stability, nutrient availability, soil pH and the soil’s reaction to fertilizers. This is measured by the positive and negative charges in the soil and their ability to attach and bond with other elements. The ability to hold ions requires a higher CEC rating, as positively charged molecules, called cations, attract negatively charged molecules, or ions. The organic acid in Fulvex has a very high CEC rating, giving it strong attachment qualities as it produces polyelectrolytes that contain both negative and positive charges. These mineral ions are now bioavailable and attach to plant molecules when they find cells out of balance.
Organic acids produce a high CEC (1000+), giving Fulvex the ability to chelate, break apart heavy metals, attach these now free ions to the fulvic acid molecules, and, by their low-weight and soluble molecular structure, carry these compounds into the plant cell wall, directly into cell metabolic sites, and release them. What the plants cannot utilize is released through transpiration of the plant cells, eliminating toxins and heavy metals, such as lead and mercury, from the soil and plant tissue. The strong chelating powers of Fulvex can take negatively charged ions, bind them to the fulvic acid molecules, penetrate, and release them throughout the entire plant.
The delivery of nutrients happens quickly and efficiently. Studies by BioFlora have shown a dramatic increase in several functional groups of beneficial soil microorganisms in not only population but in species diversity as well. Fulvex, when combined with other BioFlora products, such as Humega and Seaweed Creme, increase soil ecology by stimulating even more beneficial microorganisms in the soil.  Seeds treated with Fulvex before sowing will improve the rate of growth and development of roots and shoots, potentially increasing crop yield.
Fulvex can be applied with other liquid mixes either through drip tape, micro-sprinkler, border, or pivot irrigation. Fulvex may be combined with any fertilization program to increase the efficiency and effectiveness. Farmers can adjust applications for the desired result, as they notice immediate effects to plant vigor and yield. Fulvex is biologically stable and does not degrade easily. BioFlora recommends using 1-2 quarts per acre as a foliar treatment and/or 1-2 gallons per acre as a soil treatment. Proper dilution at a rate of 1:10 product to water is necessary. Fulvex can be used on any and all crops, and is OMRI Listed and BCS certified as an organic product.
