FarmHannong(CEO, Kim Yong Whan) is speeding up expansion of overseas business with herbicide 'Metamifop'. FarmHannong registered its products in Ecuador last November, and since then registered in Colombia at the end of April.

Since its launch in 2009, Metamifop has been exported to eight countries including China, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia In addition to Ecuador and Colombia, which have completed product registration, six countries including India, Thailand, Brazil, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are also in the process of registering, so there is a high expectation of expanding export market.

Metamifop 'is a herbicide for controlling weeds in rice and grass. It is evaluated as excellent because it has excellent herbicidal effect and low toxicity with only one third of the existing product. It was developed jointly by FarmHannong and Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology.

Jeff Kwon, Vice president of the new business department, said, "'Metamifop', which was mainly exported to Asia, was registered in Ecuador or Colombia in Latin America with different environment and climatic conditions, means that 'Metamifop' is superior in its product competitiveness."

"We are planning to develop more diverse global markets by proactively promoting the advantage of controlling resistance weeds resistant to existing herbicides", he said

Meanwhile, FarmHannong is concentrating on strengthening R&D capabilities and entering overseas markets with the goal of 10th in the world in the green biotechnology field.
