Qingdao Xiannong releases resistant weed control solution Daojiale in China

Gong’an County of Jingzhou City is a traditional planting area for direct seeded rice, where penoxsulam has been in use for 12 years and resistant weeds have been emerging every year. Barnyard grass in this area is not only resistant to penoxsulam, but also resistant to quinclorac and bispyribac-sodium. To solve the problem, Qingdao Xiannong has released a ricefield resistant weed control solution, Daojiale, for which demonstration trials have been held in waterborne direct seeded rice field and dry soybean field.
At the demonstration, distributors compared Daojiale with reference products, and demonstrated how Qingdao Xiannong's product has better efficacy, being especially effective in controlling barnyard grass while being safe for rice, particularly for early-season rice.
At the product release conference, Xiannong gave an introduction to the product applications and product features as below:
1. High Safety: The product can be used for direct seeded rice planting, seedling slinging and transplantation covering various rice varieties. The product can be applied after the two true leaves stage, without yellowing and hardening of rice seedling. Application to early-season direct seeded rice can be conducted safely at an average temperature of above 15 degrees Celsius.
2. Effective Control of Barnyard Grass and Broad Herbicidal Spectrum: The product has a good control efficacy on various barnyard grass which have become resistant to quinclorac, penoxsulam and bispyribac-sodium. It is also effective on control of Asian elder sprangletop, paspalum paspaloides, goosegrass and crabgrass (3-4 leaves).
3. Excellent synergy of oil miscible formula provides prominent efficacy.
Qingdao Xiannong Resistant Weed Control Ltd was founded in 2003, as a subsidiary of Hailir Pesticides and Chemicals Group (ranking 40th among the top 100 Chinese pesticide technical sales companies in 2017). Over the last years, the business performance of Xiannong has jumped year by year, having become one of the prime post-emergence herbicide brands for application to Chinese Northwest Soybean.
Yang Botao, the general manager of Xiannong, said the company is positioned to be a “resistant weed control researcher,” and the company has set up an herbicide bioassay and marketing team to screen targeted formula via various field trials. With this effort, the company is able to provide farmers with customized technology, which will make farmers feel that “once Xiannong appears, weeds are swept away.”
