China intends to prohibit, restrict five pesticides, including endosulfanqrcode

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture has announced control measures against the use of five kinds of pesticides, including endosulfan, methyl bromide, acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate, recently. 
 
This is in response to the provisions of the Food Safety Law and the Regulation on Pesticide Administration of PR China, as well as in compliance with the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the Montreal Protocol Copenhagen Amendment. The Ministry of Agriculture intends to take the following control measures on which public opinions are expected before June 16: 
 
1. Beginning from July 1, 2018, all endosulfan registrations shall be revoked; beginning from March 27, 2019, agricultural use of all endosulfan products shall be prohibited.
 
2. Beginning from July 1, 2018, methyl bromide registrations shall be revoked; beginning from January 1, 2019, agricultural use of methyl bromide shall be prohibited.
 
3. Beginning from July 1, 2017, registration of acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate (inclusive of single agent and mixture) for applications to vegetable, melon and tea leaf shall be revoked; no further request for registration of acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate for applications to vegetable, melon, tea leaf, mushroom and medicinal herb shall be accepted and approved. Beginning from July 1, 2019, applications of acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate to vegetable, melon, tea leaf, mushroom and medicinal herb shall be prohibited.
