UPL launches insecticide seed treatment product Start in Brazil

BrazilUPL announced the launch of the insecticide Start (fipronil) for seed treatment, in Brazil. The product, which can be used both in the industrial system, as well as "on farm", was registered in the country for soybean, corn, rice, cotton, kidney bean, barley, pasture, and wheat crops.
According to UPL, “Start protects the seed from attacks of the major plagues of the crops without harming germination and the vigor of the crop”. The company added that the differential is the unique mode of action that alters the ionic balance of the central nervous system to exterminate insects.
“The seed treatment has a specialty on initial plagues, thus promoting the guarantee of a stand of Brazilian crops. Start stresses the importance of intelligence plague management, from the initial stage of seed treatment until foliar applications,” pointed out Rafael Pereira, Innovation and Development Manager at UPL.
He added that besides being easy to handle, the insecticide is also compatible with fungicides, micro-nutrients, and inoculants, “The market can expect an innovation that will launch several other products for the seed treatment market,” Pereira noted.
Wagner Seara, Portfolio Manager of UPL, highlighted that, “The launch of Start definitely puts UPL in the seed market, with a focus on treatment directly on the farm and also on an industrial level. This was the segment we sought to participate in to complete our offers”.
