M2i Life Sciences partners up in the integrated protection of palm trees in the Exceptional Botanical Gardens A partnership agreement was signed between the botanical gardens of the French and Italian Riviera and the company M2i Life Sciences for the implementation of a pesticide-free palm tree protection program.
The red weevil of the palm tree is a formidable pest that puts the palm trees of the Mediterranean basin at risk. In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, for example, more than 100 communities are now victim of the invasion of this insect and more than 13,000 palm trees are already affected. This pest causes the destruction of palm trees and is a major concern of the region's remarkable botanical gardens. In addition, the Loi Labbé came into force on January 1, 2017, which prohibits the use of pesticides in public space, and requires green space managers to quickly find ecological alternatives to pesticides.
It is in this context that M2i Life Sciences, European leader in pheromone biocontrol, and designer of an innovative red palm weevil trapping solution that has been proven in the Middle East and northern Africa for many years, has just signed a partnership with the various botanical gardens of the French Riviera to guarantee the biological protection of their specimens. This solution is also used by the "Save Our Palm tree" Association, which is very active in protecting palm trees in the PACA region.
This partnership concerns:
The Jardin Val Rahmeh in Menton (dependent on the Museum of Natural History)
The Garden of Villa Thuret in Antibes (dependent on INRA)
The Port Cros National Park in Hyères
The Hanbury Botanical Garden in Ventimille (Italy)
The Phoenix Experimental Garden in Bordighera (Italy)
The aim is to use pheromone diffusers (*) in each garden. Placed in traps, which attract the males and females of the weevils and allow them to be captured.
M2i Life Sciences is particularly honored to contribute to the preservation of the plant heritage of the Côte d'Azur and proud to have the confidence of those in charge of these prestigious botanical gardens.
This is a perfect illustration of the effectiveness and reliability of trapping the red palm weevil and demonstrates that such a solution can be implemented by municipalities, local authorities or individuals.
* A pheromone is the specific odor emitted by an insect to communicate with its congeners, M2i has developed a method to reproduce this pheromone by biomimicry and insert it into a diffuser.

Have a China Field Visit, to Explore the Opportunity of Chinese Agchem Market !

In 2015, the Chinese government put forward the Pesticide & Fertilizer-use Zero Growth program, for which a series of supportive policies were released. The program set a new requirement for the supply of environment-friendly products and the provision of advanced agricultural technology for application towards crop protection and crop nutrition services. It will also have a profound effect on the Chinese agrochemical market structure in the future.

At the request of some of our readers, AgroPages is planning to organize a China field visit for enterprises interested in the Chinese agrochemical market. Enterprises, including but not limited to green crop protection product vendors, agrotechnical service providers and precision agriculture-oriented enterprises can participate in the field visit.
We will arrange meetings with Chinese agrotechnical promotion agencies and prime distributors, as well as organize interviews with farmers and major growers, so that enterprises can understand the needs of the market and explore the available business opportunities. China is vast, with diversified structure of cultivation. To better fulfill your expectations from the Chinese market, you are kindly requested to take part in the following survey to enable us to schedule this business trip to your satisfaction.
