An export value of $105 million was the entry level to among the top 20 this year, which was noticeably down, compared with $117 million last year. The export volume for most of the exporters applying for rankings this year showed a downward trend, attributable to a large extent to the continued lower prices of pesticide in the first half of 2016.

Total export value among the top 10 of 2016 was $2.8427 billion, which was $117.8 million less than the $2.9605 billion in 2015, down 3.98 percent year-on-year. The total export value for the top 20 was $4.0666 billion, 5.4 percent down over $4.2985 billion in 2015.

Taking into consideration the 6.83 percent depreciation in the Chinese currency, a decrease in export value among both the top 10 or top 20 was reported, which revealed a new breakthrough being made by Chinese enterprises.

Judging from the number of spectators received by AgroPages or from talks with Chinese domestic exhibitors, there was an increase in the number of foreign visitors this year. Industry insiders joked that China’s new round of environmental compliance campaign and the price rise in raw materials had led to an overall short supply of pesticides for export, which had resulted in the “rushed sourcing” of overseas purchasers, and Chinese enterprises seemed to appear in a very rare seller’s market.

Furthermore, judging from on-site communication with overseas visitors, AgroPages concluded two things: “Old,” representing old customers and old product varieties. Some overseas visitors were quite familiar with the China Pesticide Suppliers Guide and could easily find their supplier’s log, and were very enthusiastic about telling the story of cooperation and commenting on the product and service of partners.

We could feel the importance of building a long-term relationship and the mutual trust; we could also feel how difficult it would be to turn old customers of others into a new customer for oneself. Therefore, in general such an exhibition would provide more chances of meeting with old customers than developing new customers.

The second was “new,” representing new products and new business opportunities. It was noted at the exhibition that more and more overseas sourcing agents are looking for niche product or next-to-new product, however without success. For various reasons, which could be felt but not described in words, people do not know as to since when Chinese companies have stopped publicizing their next-to-new product at the exhibition. AgroPages is also hoping for more information on new product development progress being made public by developers of such next-to-new product, so that foreign users demanding such new product development and product reserves can obtain information smoothly for contact towards the common development of new businesses.
