South African Crop Protection companies Meridian Agritech and Intelichem have recently reached collaboration. Such collaboration is essential in a dynamic and highly competitive market environment and the sacrifice of independence offers the reward of dedicated distribution.

The collaboration between the two offers InteliChem immediate access to over 100 registration licenses. The transaction entails an outright sale of 50% of Meridian shares to InteliChem which is well structured as a sustainable and value-adding agricultural business. The sale also includes 50% of the assets of the formulation facility Synovatech with own quality control and research laboratory and production lines for SC, EC, SL, EW, ME, SE as well as packing lines.

“As a dedicated partner in agriculture and related industries, the InteliChem Group of companies is a committed business partner to growers in providing sustainable crop solutions for optimizing output and quality, mitigating risk and maximizing profitability. The diverse product offering of InteliChem together with our specialized, focused and complimentary business portfolio enables us to provide the producers with a complete crop solution for a large variety of crops, complementing the whole food supply chain, ” said Meridian Agritech.

The efficiency of both companies have been advanced by relentless efforts and open mindedness of Commercial and Operations Director Rob Dawson who remains pivotal in the daily operations and financial success of both Meridian and Synovatech. Meridian plans to maintain its ever-expanding product range including high value niche formulations as well as lower price point essential commodity products which aim to serve small growers to corporate agribusiness. The group is intent on remaining flexible in meeting the needs of customers and to strengthen ties with key suppliers.

With innovative own differentiated registrations, and supportive technology created by a strong focus on research and development, the Meridian / InteliChem partnership is well positioned to face the challenges of a dynamic, changing agricultural environment and offer sustainable and intelligent crop solutions.

Meridian Agritech was started in 2000 by current MD, Mike Dawson with a view to registering niche crop protection products for the Southern African market. Thanks to support of only a few market players, Meridian turned a small outsourced based business into a significant holder of valuable IP with own formulation facility, in-house registration team, efficient logistics and warehousing having growing demand from recognized distributors in South Africa.

Meridian became known for gaining approval of higher value new generic formulations as well as certain value-added novel mixtures and first-entry formulations. Mike established limited relationships due to his focus on exclusivity and personalized customer care which has now turned Meridian into one of the major players in the South African crop protection sector.

InteliGro, is the market leader in the supply of innovative and value-adding crop solutions with 124 exclusive Crop Solution Specialists, servicing growers from 93 warehouses on a national basis with expertise on a wide range of crops.
