Argentina strengthens Agribusiness relationships with Russia

An Argentinian delegation recently held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Stanislav Bronislavovich Byben, the director of the Department of Russian Agribusiness, and representatives of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The main topics that were discussed included progress towards national investment policies. The Argentinian authorities were pleased by potential investors, who were interested in precision farming technologies, no-till farming and the intention to work together with National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) team.

The visit was focused on recovering markets with high potential of food purchase such as Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Since 2015, a supranational statute by the Economic Commission has determined the total foreign trade regarding tariffs and regulations of technical, customs, sanitary and phytosanitary measures. These resolutions are compulsory for the members of the Union.

Regarding to this issue, the Argentinian Minister of Agroindustry Mr Ricardo Buryaile promised to simplify the procedures to let technical working groups move forward.

Furthermore, he sought to advance an agreement of cooperation with Argentina agribusiness development technology, in order to exploit the agro-ecological capacity of member countries of the Commission.

Mr. Buryaile said, "It's no secret that Argentina is a huge producer of food and agribusiness technology. We need to develop and in the process of development, we need to continue integrating ourselves into the world. That's why we partner with the Eurasian Union."

The delegation also participated in a technical meeting with the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control headed by Sergey Dankvert.

They discussed preparations for the next joint commission to be held in Buenos Aires, where issues such as export of soybeans, beef and equine feet will be discussed.

In addition to this, progress was also made on issues such as fishing, registration of biotechnological events (soybean and soybean meal) and veterinary cooperation guidelines, FMD and biotechnology.

"The national private sector also has a firm decision to come to Russia to sell their products. So we will accompany chambers representing hundreds of companies throughout Argentina, " Buryaile said.
