Bayer has just launched in the Brazilian market the Alion® herbicide for weed management on crops such as coffee, citrus and sugarcane. In Brazil, the territorial extension, the soil diversity, the high rates of rainfall and the low crop rotation are the major factors that contribute to the dissemination of plants of difficult control, increase production cost and reducing the yields.

"In addition to preventing the germination of weeds resistant and difficult to control, and have a long residual, Alion contributes to the business sustainability because its action allows optimized applications, helping to reduce water consumption, machinery, CO2, and yet the optimization of labor on crop management,” affirms Mário Lussari, manager of Herbicides and Growth Regulators at Bayer. The pre-emergent herbicide acts directly at the soil. It inhibits the germination and weed emergency, nevertheless, with a reduced number of applications. “Depending on the conditions of crop infestation, the product can be used only once a year,” evaluates Lussari.

"We have the commitment of pushing modern agriculture, through technologies that come from research and development. So, presenting molecules, through products like Alion, is fundamental for us at Bayer. We are on the side of the producer, listening, understanding their needs to offer exactly what they need to develop their business in a sustainable way,” concludes Lussari.
