Gengshangpao®，innovation for rice soil treatment herbicide application pattern

ChinaNanjing Goodagro Co., Ltd. announced the launching of its new herbicide Gengshangpao® in the “2016 Gengshangpao® Jiangsu market launching conference” held on 8th April. The product will be fully promoted for Jiangsu rice market.
Gengshangpao® product is based on pretilachlor and pyrazosulfuron which have been used as soil treatment herbicides for transplanted paddy rice and barnyard grass control in southern China for a long time. The innovation of this new product lies in its irregular shaped granules which marks the first floating macro granule herbicide in China. By adopting this type of formulation, its easy upthrowing to paddy rice field is made possible, allowing for sufficient, uniform and dispersed application, where herbicide application personnel can simply throw up a water soluble bag containing product along the ridge of rice field without stepping into the field.
“As China is undergoing a period of major changes—land reform, rural labor transfer and the absent of working-age population, making field work into an easy and relaxed experience gradually become the primary determinant when farmers consider crop protection product.” Maoqin Wang, president of Goodagro told AgroPages. “Due to this great demand from market, we developed Gengshangpao®.”
“For the traditional soil treatment herbicide application pattern in paddy rice field, it requires two times treatment, before and after rice transplantation. However, with two to three years’ field trials, Gengshangpao® has innovated application pattern, reduced frequency from two times to one, which has the advantages of saving labor, time, and also herbicide.” Wang added.
Goodagro has became a leading formulation manufacture in China since its transformation form export processing to domestic sell in 2001. Except Gengshangpao®, Goodagro possesses several state-of-the-art pesticide formulation technologies, including paraquat soluble granule and the second generation of thin shell quick release micro capsule product Baonang®. In the near future, Goodagro will cooperate with a Japanese company and launch a new product which is expected to surpass the existing standard that established by multinationals.
