Alta-Brazil projects to increase significantly its presence in Brazil, announcing new products and increasing the revenue. “We should have four new agrochemicals per yer in Brazil in the next five years. Until then, we hope that the country represents 40% of our revenue [today it is less than 5%],” affirms Túlio Zanchet, founder and current president of the council of Agrihold Group, which controls Alta.
The development and distribution company arrived in the Brazilian market just over a year ago and ended 2015 with a revenue of R$ 50.2 million. For this year, the goal is to hit R$ 120 million. “We forecast a big jump, therefore we invest a lot. And we are motivated because the response has been good,” evaluates Zanchet.
Alta-Brazil has invested R$ 108 million so far, mostly on technical dossiers for the registration of products. Since it has started sales at the second half of 2014, the company presented a portfolio with eigh agrochemicals for crops such as soybeans, corn, sugarcane and coffee. Other 17 products are at the registration stage.
“Those are generic products, but we base on innovative mixtures, created by us. We are owners of the formulations, but we have industries in China, India and Brazil already approved as suppliers,” explains Zanchet.
The company has experimental stations in Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil, besides its own laboratory in Shanghai, in China. In Uruguay, Alta has the Solaris brand, and in Paraguay, Agrotec and Caelum. Agrohold Group is the exclusive representative of Basf in these two countries, besides acting as grain trading with two seed processing units.
