Beck's Superior Hybrids recently announced the purchase of the former Syngenta production facility in Paris, Ill., for the use of corn production and processing. The fully operational site in Edgar County will provide Beck’s with seed processing capabilities, additional warehousing, and expanded bulk storage.
The facility features a recently remodeled tower, 400,000 units of drying capacity, 300,000 units of bulk storage capacity, and 71,000 square feet of warehousing. In the first year of operation, the facility will be utilized for warehousing, seed storage, and bulk management. No seed corn production, drying or processing is planned for 2016. In addition to Effingham and Paris, Beck’s has five other permanent locations in Illinois, including production, processing and distribution facilities in Allerton, El Paso, Neoga, and Pontiac, as well as a Practical Farm Research (PFR)® site in Downs.
Beck’s offers the world’s most diverse access to genetics and traits through their lineup of high yielding corn, soybeans and wheat. All Beck’s products are treated with Escalate™ yield enhancement system, a proprietary seed treatment, and are backed by a 100% Free Replant Policy. Beck’s also offers an extensive lineup of alfalfa, cover crops and forages. In addition, Beck’s industry-leading PFR program brings farmer-focused research to the farm management process.
“At Beck’s, our growth strategy is methodical, ensuring every decision is focused on helping farmers succeed,” said Scott Beck, president of Beck’s. “As we expand into new regions, our family of employees and farmer-dealers remain dedicated to providing our customers with localized service. Located within an hour of our Effingham, Ill., facility, this new facility will allow Beck’s to maximize efficiency, stay ahead of demand, and deliver products faster.”
“Because of the demand for Beck’s products last year and in the current sales year, Illinois is our number one growth state,” said Sonny Beck, CEO of Beck’s. “We’re pleased to add this location to better serve our growing family of customers. It’s imperative we add facilities that allow us to continue providing the best in seed quality, field performance, and service.”
