A new technology that promises to bring more efficiency to agrochemical applications was launched in Brazil, making the production more sustainable and economic. DropScope uses a digital microscope that does the readership of drops deposited in hydro-sensitive papers, gathering the processed data by a software that analyzes how the agrochemicals are being sprayed on the crop.

“The reading and counting of drops were done visually and imprecisely with magnifiers. DropScope does a diagnosis and yet bring tips to solve any problems found,” explains Edson Roberto Minatel, director of Ablevision Sistemas.

The company developed the software with the partnership of the Mato Grosso Institute of Cotton (IMAmt), Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC) and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa). The commercialization is done by the Cooperative of Development of the Farm Business (Comdeagro) and other commercial partners.

The product is a kit that contains a protector bag and accessories – like a scanner connected to the laptop (a tablet or cell phone in the future). When the program identifies an inadequate spraying, it suggests the correction of the problem and a diagnosis to support decision-making.
