Bayer CropScience announced that it has obtained the extension of the registration of its fungicide Nativo® (trifloxystrobin+tebuconazole) for sugarcane crops in Brazil. The product is already part of the company's portfolio on citrus, horticultural and grains. With this release, Nativo® will be the first fungicide of the company which is specific for sugarcane.

According to Bayer, the product contributes to control diseases and to protect plants against soil fungus that hurt budding, and increase protection against leaf spots that reduce efficiency of crop protection.

Paulo Donadoni, Strategic Manager for sugarcane at Bayer CropScience, affirms that Nativo® brings force, speed and growth: "In the initial growth stage as well as in the stage of vegetative growth until maturation, it allows a greener leaf blade, without the presence of leaf spots which would directly result production reduction".

The most attractive of the fungicide for use in the management of the cane is that it can be used to prevent on crop varieties on different production environment throughout all the crop season. The executive explains that the characteristics of the product bring a differentiated behavior for leaves because it has greater resistance to washing by rains right after the application and greater protection to the plant. "Nativo prevents the appearance of the disease, protecting the plant longer, acting strong on rust, reducing leaf spots," completes Donadoni.
