AgroPages-China to construct 1.3 million hectares efficient water-saving irrigated area in 2015-Agricultural news

According to Chinese Ministry of Water Resources, China is going to speed up construction of water conservancy works this year to achieve an increase of over 1.3 million hectares efficient water-saving irrigated area.

It is said that this year China will undertake construction and renovation of 40 large-scale and 200 medium-scale irrigated zones together with 40 large-scale irrigation pump stations, as well as to complete the water-saving and efficiency improvement programs respectively in northwest China, north China and South China. It is also planned to speed up the construction of small-scale farmland irrigation and water conservancy works so as to fill the gap of the so-called “last-mile irrigation”.
