In order to attend a phytosanitary requirement established by the Netherlands, the use of products already registered based on the active ingredient imidacloprid were authorized in Brazil. The permission was published this week at the Union's Official Gazette. Imidacloprid will be used on several ornamental plant species which are made exclusively for exports.

The release was conceded by the Crop Protection Secretary through the Department of Agricultural Inputs Authority. According to the new permission, the products should be used at a concentration of 700 grams per liter at a dose of 21 grams of active ingredient per 100 liters of water for the treatment of seedlings of the species specified in the text.

Imidacloprid is an ingredient used on cotton and soybean crops, and other crops with high economic impact. This molecule has a systemic behavior over the target plant and distributes itself through all parts. It is also used to control sucking insects.
