China’s agchem production up 12% in August 2014

According to National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), China’s agrochemical production increased 11.6% year-on-year to 298 thousand tons in August 2014. From January to August, pesticide production increased by 2% to 2444.5 thousand tons, compared to the same period of last year.
In August, herbicides recorded an increase of 32.7% to 148.4 thousand tons, accounting for 50% of the total production, while insecticide production decreased by 15.9% to 45.2 thousand tons, making up 15.1% of the total production. The production of fungicide was 19.5 thousand tons, up by 25% on the figure of last year, representing 6.5% of the total volume.
