Dr. Albert Heuser, President, Greater China and Functions Asia Pacific, BASF, was honored with Magnolia Silver Award by the Shanghai Municipal Government for his outstanding contributions to the economic development of Shanghai and China.

Established in 1989 and named after Shanghai’s city flower, the award is one of the highest recognitions of the Shanghai government. It is presented annually to expatriates who make significant contributions to the economy, business environment, international relations, community development and corporate governance.

Li Mingjun, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipality, presented the award to Dr. Albert Heuser and 49 other winners at Jing An Shangri-La.

“I am excited and honored to receive this award as the leader of BASF’s operations in Greater China. More than half of our 7,600 employees are based here in Shanghai, contributing to the development of the city as well as the whole country,” said Dr. Heuser. “With its vibrance and metropolitan flair, Shanghai will become a hub for international talents and innovations that further strengthens its position as one of the worlds’ leading cities. At the same time, BASF will continue to grow with this dynamic city.”

With a Ph.D in materials science, Dr. Albert Heuser has been working with BASF for 27 years. He came to Shanghai in 2013, overseeing all operations in Greater China in addition to his responsibility as President Function Asia Pacific. Prior to that, Dr. Heuser was involved in business in Shanghai and China in the capacity as President of Petrochemicals Division and Asia Pacific respectively since 2006. From 2002 to 2006, Dr. Heuser also held the role of President in two divisions, including the Works Engineering Division and Ludwigshafen Verbund Site Management.

BASF’s Greater China Headquarters and its Innovation Campus Asia Pacific are located in Pudong, Shanghai. As one of the first companies based in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, BASF has several projects under expansion to make the Park first-class of its kind in China. The second phase of BASF Innovation Campus Asia Pacific in Pudong broke ground in July 2014. With the expansion, BASF’s regional research capabilities will be further strengthened to drive innovation in Shanghai for Asia and the world.
