BASF recently announced its entrance in the market of fertilizers in Brazil throughout the launch of line Librel ®. There are seven products already available for sales at dealerships, cooperative unions, and company representatives.

Fertilizers are formulated from dispersible pellets in water for foliar application or fertigation and 100% chelated with EDTA (Ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid). The company announced that, among the benefits of the launch are the increasing of the production and quality of the final product, plant nutritional balance, efficiency on a wide range of PH, high stability on nutritive solutions and more resistant to the plant's stress.

"Librel is a world brand of special fertilizers that aggregates a new category of products to our portfolio and, as a result, allows that we offer more complete solutions to the agricultural market", affirms Marcelo Manieiro Ismael, director of Specialties at BASF's Crop Protection Unit in Brazil;

With commercial names “Librel® Magnésio, Librel® Zinco, Librel® Cobre, Librel® Manganês, Librel® Mix AL, Librel® Cálcio and Librel® FeLo”, the line is aimed to the segment of hortifrut and direct to crops like tomatoes, potatoes, grapes, apples, melons, onions, garlic, and hardwoods such as lettuce, endive, arugula, watercress, among others.

"Even though the formulations have been developed by Ciba, a company acquired by BASF five years ago, we have had the preoccupation to test the effectiveness and adaptability of products to the Brazilian climatic profile", adds Ismael.

The line integrates the area of Functional Crop Care (Functional Solutions for Agriculture) - responsible for the development of technologies beyond crop protection. The initiative is part of 2020 global strategy of the German company, which forecasts sales of over €6 billion until 2015 and €8 billion up to 2020 for the agricultural division in the world with the expansion of the portfolio of solutions.
