Syngenta doubles the sales of soybean seeds sold in Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, driven by the offer of high-tech seeds and the new business model of IBP (Integrated Business Partners), launched in 2012. Since then, in the South of the country, the number of partners jumped from six to seventeen. Last year, this business model has been applied in other major producing regions, such as Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Maranhão, which meant the arrival of four more partners, totaling twenty-one IBPs in Brazil.

The strategy of IBP transforms the soybean seed multipliers (cooperatives and nurseries) into company partners. The partners share their expertise in the areas of research, production and marketing, dividing the profits obtained at the end of the process.

The IBP strategy still stands out due to the fact that its structure counts with Expert Team, a group of technicians who make assessments and recommendations for the farmers and pre-commercial members of Syngenta to obtain better positioning of the varieties that will be available on the market. This ensures that the farmer receives a better quality seed, increasing productivity in the same area. The most relevant criterion, in this case, is the compilation of the differentials and the results of seed productivity, which means the sales growth and consequently higher profitability.

The initiative is aligned with the commitments given by Syngenta in The Good Growth Plan, a global initiative to make crops more efficient, increasing by 20%, the average productivity of the major crops of the world, including soy, without needing to use more land, water or supplies.

The expectation for 2014 is that the growth of membership and of trading volume will be even greater. "The model is innovative, unlike anything that exists on the market. With this, we seek the best producers as partners according to the quality of their soy seeds who were already customers of our distribution network, between cooperatives and nurseries ", explains Leandro Sauthier, Manager of IBP soybeans from Syngenta.
