Chinese agchem company Zhejiang Bosst CropScience has received the approval registration for its 96% sulfosulfuron technical (for export only) from Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA). As per Chinese registration watch, Bosst is the first company registered sulfosulfuron technical in China.

Sulfosulfuron is a branched chain amino acid synthesis (ALS or AHAS) inhibitor. It is absorbed via the root system and/or leaf surface, and translocated to symplast and apoplast to stop cell division and plant growth. As a pre- and post- emergence herbicide, sulfosulfuron has activity to control annual broad-leaved weeds and grass weeds in cereals.

Sulfosulfuron was developed jointly by Monsanto and Takeda (now Sumitomo Chemical) and was introduced in 1997 in most major cereal-producing markets. Philagro has the distribution right of sulfosulfuron in France.  Sumitomo purchased the product from Monsanto and branded it as Leader in India for the control of canary grass.

The global sales of Sulfosulfuron in 2012 reached $ 55 million.
