The National Institute for Agrarian Innovation (INIA) of Peru introduced a new variety of potato called INIA 321 - Kawsay, which will help to combat malnutrition, especially in children, due its higher content of micronutrients (iron and zinc) and vitamin C compared to the varieties that are currently marketed in the Peruvian market.

It is a high quality product, as it will not only generate higher performance in field but is also a potato that will better feed Peruvians. "This potato variety will exceed 20 tons per hectare compared to the 10 tons currently achieved, which will allow a greater yield in favor of producers and farmers", said the head of Agriculture and Irrigation, Milton von Hesse.
