Total of 20 Pesticides Initially Registered in China in 2013![qrcode]()

According to the statistics from the China Pesticide Registration Watch of Agropages, a total of 20 pesticides were initially registered in China in 2013, covering 7 herbicides, 5 fungicides, 4 biopesticides, 3 insecticides and 1 plant activator, of which there are 16 temporary registrations and 4 full registrations. The initial registrations involve 18 pesticide production enterprises including 14 Chinese enterprises and 4 foreign enterprises - Dow AgroSciences, BASF, Syngenta and Mitsui Chemicals Agro. Dow AgroSciences obtained the largest number of registrations including 1 herbicide, 1 fungicide and 1 insecticide.
Regarding the pesticide toxicity, 16 of the 20 initially registered pesticides are low-toxic which make up the majority of the registered pesticides. There is 1 slight-toxic product and 3 moderate-toxic products, free of registration of high-toxic or strong-toxic pesticides; the slight-toxic and moderate-toxic pesticides are mostly registered by multinational companies, which means that China’s pesticide registration management has become more and more stringent on approval and safety control procedures, showing China’s accelerated progress of promotion of low-toxic pesticides and restriction of high-toxic pesticides, as well as the effort to promote registration of more low-toxic pesticides.
It is worthy of note that part of these initially registered products is of intellectual property of Chinese companies, some of which achieved a zero breakthrough of registration of Chinese products. SYP9080 becomes an insecticide with independent Chinese intellectual property, which is registered by Shengyang Sciencreat Chemicals. Other products innovated by Chinese enterprises include the empedobacter brevis, developed by Zhenjiang Runyu Biotech Development Co., Ltd, the biopesticide TDS developed by Hubei Jinhaichao Science and Technology Co., Ltd, which is so far the only government registered botanical molluscicides in China and in the whole world, as well as the plant activator methiadinil developed by Lier Chemical.
Moreover Shaanxi Jialunduo Crop Science Co., Ltd registered China’s only microbial fungicide using sphaerotheca amyloliquefaciens as active ingredient. Not long after registration, the mamestra brassicae multiple NPV TC developed by YiChun XinLong Chemical Co., Ltd obtained the EU organic certification for a Chinese viral pesticide for the first time.

In addition to the above initial registrations in China, there are other technical products being registered by Chinese enterprises for the first time. These technical products include the oxadiargyl 96% TC of Anhui Kelihua Chemical Co Ltd, the ethoxysulfuron 97% TC of Jiangsu Repont Pesticide Factory, the iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium 91% TC of Jiangsu Agrochem Laboratory Co Ltd, the pyraflufen-ethyl 95% TC of Shandong Cynda Chemical Co., Ltd, the famoxadone 98% TC and the cyazofamid 94% TC of Rudong Zhongyi Chemical Co., Ltd, the dinotefuran 98% TC and the spirodiclofen 98% TC of Shijiazhuang Xingbai Bioengineering Co., Ltd.
