Brazil agrochemical sales up by 28% in five-month 2013qrcode

According to the data released by the agrochemical trade association, the Sindag, Brazil’s agrochemical sales were up by 21% to R$ 967 million in May 2013 versus the same period of previous year. For the five months of 2013, the sales rose by 28% to R$ 4,823 million compared with same period of last year.

For the five months of 2013, insecticides were the largest product category, contributing 40% of agrochemical sales and increasing by 35% to R$ 1,908million compared with the previous year. The sales growth is driven by the soybean and corn crops,while the fall is due to the cotton and sugarcane.

Herbicides accounting for 38% of sales ,which rose by 30% to R$ 1,845 million.This category growth is contributing to the soybean , corn , beans, wheat,while the cotton and sugarcane hinder the sales growth.

Fungicides sales increased by 25% to R$ 818 million. The category made up 17% of agrochemical sales. The soybean , corn and wheat are the key factor of sales growth,but cotton and beans decreased the sales growth.

The acaricides only accounting for 1% of agrochemical sales,which rose by 17% to R$ 56 million.
