Australia to approve sterigas 1000 fumigant

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed to approve sterigas 1000 fumigant (ethanedinitrile), for the control of fungi and insects infesting timber. The APVMA has proposed to register the ethanedinitrile as a new active ingredient.
The manufacturer is Chinese company United Fluoride (Shenyang) and applicant is BOC.It was developed by German company Linde Gases and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia, as an alternative to the ozone-depleting methyl bromide. Linde has launched its fumigants as Crop Science in May 2013.
The public comment will be ended until July 4, 2013.
