New Embrapa trial results support HYT technology adoption in Brazil
Date:04-23-2013
In March 2012, Agrinos announced that it had signed a Technical Collaboration Agreement with the Brazilian state backed agricultural research institution Embrapa, defining Agrinos as one of Embrapa´s strategic partners. Agrinos announces the results from the first trial under this agreement.
This first trial focused on recovery of degraded pasture land and has been carried out in a green house at Embrapa´s facilities in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. The results show that the use of Agrinos’ technology increased the production of green mass of up to 15%, total mass of up to 8% and the root mass of up to 28% in forage production, when applied in combination with a standard fertilizer program.
”The results support my view that Agrinos’ technology can contribute to Embrapa´s efforts to achieve sustainable and efficient solutions on a large scale in the production of food, fiber and bioenergy in Brazil. The results are significant in a green house setting and encourage us to repeat the trial in the field, says Dr Cleber Soares, General Chief of Embrapa Beef Cattle
Embrapa’s mission is to provide feasible solutions for the sustainable development of Brazil’s agribusiness, by sharing knowledge and generating new technologies. The institution is headquartered in Brazil and has 47 Research Centers distributed in different states of Brazil and offices in the U.S., France, The Netherlands, Great Britain, South Korea and Ghana.
“Embrapa is a world-class research institution who has demonstrated success over a long time in terms of improving agricultural productivity and lifting Brazilian growers to new standards. We are happy to demonstrate the efficiency of the HYT technology® together with Embrapa and we are encouraged by the significant effect in pots in a greenhouse, as this medium tends to limit the reach and potency of our technology. The result adds to our growth platform in this large market and we are excited about the commercial launch later this year, says Camilla Nilsson, Agrinos Country Manager in Brazil.
Brazil is a key agricultural market and the world´s largest exporter of soybean products, meat, sugar, forestry products, coffee grains, orange juice, tobacco and ethanol. Agrinos is currently running trials in several of these crops, with around 15 different clients.
