Saltigo GmbH will be raising its prices worldwide for the product group 1,2,4-triazole by 1.65 €/kg effective January 1, 2013. The reasons for the measure are increases in raw material, energy and logistic costs.
Saltigo is one of the leaders in the production and marketing of 1,2,4-triazole (CAS 00288-88-0). The intermediate is used, among other things, in the chemical synthesis of active agricultural and pharmaceutical ingredients.
In light of the continued increase in operational costs associated with the safe production and to secure sustainable commercial supply to the market, Saltigo is to increase prices by 10 to 20% across its chloroformate product portfolio also effective January 1, 2013.
The company’s chloroformate portfolio contains methyl, ethyl and phenyl esters of chloroformic acid. In addition to these standard grades, Saltigo also produces temperature-sensitive chloroformates such as isopropyl and sec. butylchloroformate. More than a dozen other N-alkyl chloroformates with chain lengths of between 3 and 22 carbon atoms can be produced on demand. Apart from several batch facilities, the plant also has continuous production lines available to produce chloroformate specialties in large volumes. Chloroformic esters are important starting products for many chemical syntheses, including the production of pharmaceutical and crop protection products, paper chemicals and products for the plastics manufacturing industry.
Tony Jones, Saltigo’s head of Fine Chemicals Marketing says: “Saltigo intends to further develop and strengthen its presence in the important chloroformate market employing its expertise and knowledge of this demanding and challenging chemistry. We are offering consistently high product quality, product stewardship, professional logistics and regulatory competence to our customers.”
