California registers DuPont fungicide Fontelis

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has registered Fontelis fungicide from DuPont Crop Protection, Wilmington, Del.
The product previously had been registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, according to a news release.
Fontelis contains the active ingredient, penthiopyrad, which provides broad-spectrum control of several diseases, including Alternaria leaf blight, powdery mildew, brown rot, lettuce drop, botrytis and leaf spot.
It can be used on fruit and vegetable crops, including cucurbits, fruiting vegetables, brassicas, leafy vegetables, pome fruit, strawberries, onions, garlic, stone fruit, almonds and pistachios, according to the label.
Fontelis belongs to the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee's Group 7, carboxamides, according to the label.
