US to register Nichino’s insecticide pyrifluquinazon
Date:11-21-2012
The U.S. EPA has proposed to register Nichino America’s new insecticide active ingredient pyrifluquinazon for use on indoor greenhouse ornamental plants. Pyrifluquinazon is a new active ingredient for the management or sucking pests, such as aphids, thrips, whiteflies and more. Its mode of action is to halt insect feeding so that they starve. This prevents additional damage to plant tissues and limits spread of viral diseases. Pyrifluquinazon was initially registered in Japan in 2007, and Nichino America has submitted the US registration package in 2010. The EPA opens comment for public until December 16th.
