Date:10-15-2012
Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced that Scott Houston has joined the company as Southeast crop sales specialist for its biorational business unit.
Based in Tallahassee, Fla., Houston (pronounced HOW-stun) will be responsible for an area comprising the Atlantic and Mid-South territories.
A native of Worth County, Ga., Houston has more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience. He previously worked in marketing and sales management for BASF and, most recently, served as business manager of the U.S. turf and ornamental market for AgraQuest.
"Scott has vast experience in the row crop, forestry and wildlife, and turf and ornamental segments, and we believe he’ll bring great insight to help our customers maximize crop yield and quality with our biorational portfolio,” said Andy Lee, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Valent. “We’re pleased to welcome Scott to the Valent family and believe he will be of great service to our agricultural sales team as well as our channel partners.”
Houston, who grew up on a Georgia peanut farm, earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Georgia and an MBA from the University of South Florida.
"Valent has a strong portfolio of effective biorational solutions for Southeastern farmers. I’m excited about the opportunity to help our row and specialty crop customers maximize yield and quality while minimizing residue, worker safety or resistance concerns,” Houston said.
