Australia approved thidiazuron of China origin

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has recently approved the registration of the active ingredient of plant growth regulator thidiazuron of the Chinese agrochemical company Max Rudong (Jiangsu province, China). Till the end of July 2012, totally 18 products of thidiazuron have been approved by APVMA, 10 of which are active ingredients, 8 are formulations.

 

Thidiazuron is a new and efficient cytokinin for the plants, acting as a straight defoliant by stimulation of the leaf abscission layers, mainly used for cotton and peanut.

 

The product was introduced by Schering (now Bayer CropScience) in 1979. Now it has been registered in countries where cotton is mechanically harvested such as Australia, Brazil, Central Asia, China, Greece, Mexico, South Korea, Spain and USA.
